Country music sensation Chris Young found himself in legal trouble on Monday night following an altercation at a downtown Nashville bar. The 38-year-old singer was taken into custody on charges of disorderly conduct, assaulting an officer, and resisting arrest, according to authorities.

Chris Young rose to fame in 2006 after winning the country-music reality TV competition “Nashville Star.” His second album, “The Man I Want to Be,” achieved platinum status in the United States in 2009, solidifying his position on the Billboard country charts.

A spokesperson for Chris Young declined to provide a statement regarding the incident.

The Alcoholic Beverage Commission agents initially encountered Young at Tin Roof around 8:30 p.m., where they checked IDs, including Young’s. After the check, Young began questioning the agents and recording them on video. Subsequently, the agents moved on to DawgHouse Saloon next door, with Young and his friends following them. At DawgHouse Saloon, Young attempted to block an agent from leaving and struck him on the shoulder, according to the arrest affidavit.

Joseph Phillips, the agent who was struck, pushed Young to create distance, leading other patrons to intervene. Despite attempts to communicate with Young, he did not comply with the orders, prompting the agents to detain him.

The arrest affidavit described Young as having “slurred speech” and “bloodshot and watery” eyes. Additionally, it noted that the people accompanying Young were contributing to the hostility of the incident.

Following his arrest, Chris Young was released on bail, set at $250 for disorderly conduct, $1,000 for resisting arrest, and $1,250 for the assault charge, as reported by Nashville’s criminal court clerk. He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 16.
