Blockchain innovator Ava Labs has revealed its groundbreaking scaling solution, Vryx, outlining ambitious plans to propel the Avalanche blockchain to support speeds of approximately 100,000 transactions per second (TPS). The company is actively implementing this scaling strategy, with benchmarks set to be released in the coming weeks.

Scaling with Vryx: A Strategic Move
Ava Labs is already implementing the scaling approach, which was detailed in a research post published today. It plans to have benchmarks in the next few weeks.
Implementation Timeline and HyperSDK Integration
Ava Labs has already set the wheels in motion for Vryx’s implementation, with benchmarks expected in the near future. The scaling solution will be integrated into the first HyperSDK testnet, scheduled for release in the middle of Q2. HyperSDK, the framework for building high-performance blockchains with virtual machines and smart contract capabilities, will utilize Vryx to support hyperchainsβblockchains built using HyperSDK. The technology is envisioned to gradually extend to the main Avalanche blockchain.
Core Concepts Behind Vryx
At the heart of Vryx is the innovative concept of dividing the transaction process into segmented stages, allowing them to run in a pipelined fashion. This means that while one block of transactions is being verified, the next block is already in development. This strategy mirrors approaches employed by other successful blockchain platforms like Aptos and Sui.
Ava Labs’ Vision for Best-in-Class Performance
Ava Labs envisions Vryx as the primary mechanism to achieve best-in-class performance, addressing the scalability goals set out since the inception of the HyperSDK over a year and a half ago. The company believes that Vryx’s approach, particularly in splitting and pipelining transaction processes, will rival existing constructions and potentially outperform them, especially in adversarial environments.
Looking Ahead: HyperSDK’s Scalability Goals
As Ava Labs progresses towards implementing Vryx, the blockchain community eagerly anticipates the benchmarks and subsequent integration into the HyperSDK testnet. The goal of reaching 100,000 TPS on the Avalanche blockchain marks a significant stride in the pursuit of unparalleled scalability, positioning HyperSDK as a formidable force in the blockchain development landscape.
